Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Champion Organization award presented to Vicki McDonald, Vice President Marketing.

Phoenix Theatre’s Artistic Director Michael Barnard created “A Saute to Broadway” presented at Applause!, the 2012 black tie gala dinner and show held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort. Carole and Robert Machiz were the presenting gala sponsors, once again supporting the theatre they love. Chair Sarah Suggs Cheek and Vice Chair Brenda Howard brought their special magic to the event, looking especially beautiful for the occasion. The evening honored Robert Machiz for his philanthropy as an arts advocate with the Angel of the Arts award. Herman Chanen was presented with the Lifetime Achievement award for decades of leadership in our community. Ira Gaines and E.K. Gaylord II were recognized as Men of Character. Outstanding service given by two great ladies, Betsey Bayless and Libby Cohen, the 2012 Women Who Care. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona received a salute as Champion Organization honoree. Since 1920 Phoenix Theatre has enriched the lives of Valley citizens, Arizona’s oldest cultural institution deserves our applause and support. Cheers and here’s to a great future!

Statement by Linda M. Herold
Event chairs are fundraising volunteer
leaders who are willing to invest themselves in causes they are passionate about. Chairs are resourceful, tenacious, willing to ask for what they need, great team builders, take creative risks, are able to successfully organize and, most importantly, want to learn. Their contributions are formidable and we applaud them. Their leadership efforts not only raise funds - they raise awareness. As mentors, they create pathways for future leaders. We treasure our Society of Chairs and thank them for their outstanding
contributions.
